Stroke and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders

  • Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander adults were almost four times more likely than non-Hispanic white adults to have a stroke in 2014.1
  • Among Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander subgroups, Guamanian or Chamorro adults were nearly two times more likely to have a stroke than the general Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander population and nearly three times more likely than white adults.2
  • In 2021, non-Hispanic Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders were 30% less likely to die due to a stroke than non-Hispanic whites.3
