This annual observance celebrates the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities across the United States. It is also a time to continue to support healthy communities by promoting prevention and access to trusted information that can help people live longer, healthier lives.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) is committed to enhancing the well-being of racial and ethnic minority populations and American Indians/Alaska Natives by prioritizing chronic disease prevention and supporting the Administration’s mission to Make America Healthy Again. During National Native American Heritage Month, HHS OMH encourages AI/AN communities to continue to prioritize their health by implementing healthy lifestyle choices like eating real, whole foods, limiting screentime, and staying physically active to prevent serious chronic health conditions.
